2010 Big Dreams 5K
It was another steamy morning to the start of our 4th annual Run for Big Dreams in Clear Lake. By the afternoon, temperatures soared into the upper 80's. It was all good, especially for Grant Peterson. Winning for the second year in a row, Grant sprinted in with a time of 17:54:84. As if to continue the legacy, his sister, Trudy Peterson, debuting for the first time, captures the 14 and under category and places 10th overall with a time of 24:18:08. Can Grant and Trudy do it again next year? We hope so!
New for 2010 is our $6 No T-shirt Registration! Race for a good cause and still be thrifty! Remember, 100% of the proceeds goes towards the Big Dreams Program whose mission is to show North Iowa youth and children God's unconditional love.
Still want a shirt? Pre-order your $9 T-shirt online with your registration or order with a registration form (available at Agapé). But hurry, after August 9th, limited shirts will only be available on race day for $12 or while supplies last.
August 21st (same day) registration is $10 (No T-shirt). T-shirts will be available for $12 on race day.

2007 Big Dreams 5K
Even with the heavy rain and high humidity, the weather didn't seem to dampen the spirits of the 74 runners and walkers that made it to the starting line. At about 18 minutes later, the first runners started trailing in. By noon, all of the runners and walkers had crossed the finish line as the sun peaked through the clouds, creating an atmosphere similar to that of a tropical jungle. I watched as the first two runners, Justin Faught of Mason City (overall male winner) and Mike Larsen of Clear Lake, clear the corner and run down a steep incline towards Armour Pugh Park. Justin crossed the line at 18:14 with Mike, a mere 4 seconds later, right behind him at 18:18. A quick 2 minutes later, I saw Kalyn Kruckenberg of Mason City (overall female winner), finish at 20:38. It was incredible to watch all of the athletes compete in our first annual Run for Big Dreams.
